Dog ID - Its the Law! Did you know that in 1992 the Government passed Legislation under the Control of Dogs Order that any dog in a public place must wear a collar and ID tag with the name and address of the owner on it? It is a legal requirement dog owners to ensure that their dog is wears a collar and tag. Failure to comply can lead to a £5,000 fine. Even if your dog is micro chipped it is still the law that he or she must still wear a collar and a tag with your details on it. In fact a collar and tag should be used in addition to micro chipping.
